What fits a 58 mm machine

· How we pick · Full Fit Finder

58 mm is the commercial standard, which is the good news: almost every precision basket, tamper and bottomless portafilter on the market is made for it, and parts move freely between brands. The decision that actually remains is tamper diameter, where 58.0 mm and 58.5 mm both exist and seat differently depending on the basket.

Two espresso portafilters seen from below: one closed with two spouts, one bottomless with the basket exposed.
Left: spouted — the basket is hidden. Right: bottomless — the basket is exposed, so channelling becomes visible. About this image: it is an AI-rendered schematic, not a photograph of real hardware. The geometry was checked against manufacturer documentation and the sources listed at the foot of this page.
